Listen To Local Music: Fly My Pretties at The Mercury Theatre
For the first time in three years, Fly My Pretties present String Theory – a brand new musical and visual experience in a series of intimate shows at one of Auckland’s most-loved local theatres. String Theory enlists a new 14-strong cast of FMP favourites, including well-known local musicians such as Laughton Kora, and new faces to explore the fabric of our existence through music. Each show is accompanied by breath-taking interactive visuals, examining everything from the smallest particles of energy, to the largest galaxies in the universe through original storytelling. Shows begin on Friday evening with a Saturday matinee and a just-announced extra show on Sunday evening. Get in quick for tickets from their website by clicking here

Enjoy Sunday Brunch: At 5 city cafes specialising in this art form...
Head into the city (or just over the bridge to Takapuna) to try brunch at one of the five cafes in Auckland that excels at brunch. Yep, these clever locals take the breakfast-meets-lunch equation to a whole new art form. From nesting eggs at Mt Albert's L'Oeuf to the brunch classics from Ponsonby's Bambina, these are Auckland restaurants that will get your Sunday morning started right. Got a brunch spot you love? Share it on Localist.

Sink A Brew Or Two: Carnivorous Plant Society at Hallertau Brewery
When there is a gig on at this Riverhead venue John Campbell calls a performance by local musicians Carnivorous Plant Society “shining, uplifting and delightful.” We reckon that’s a pretty good endorsement and one of the reasons you should head out to Riverhead’s Halleratu Brewery on Saturday afternoon from 1.30pm to 4pm to check out their set of mexican mariarchi meets spaghetti western. LOCAL TIP: Try one of Hallertau’s local ciders and a burger - they come well-recommended.

Go On An Outdoor Adventure: 5 undiscovered walks
Sometimes you just gotta get back to nature and Auckland is full of places to enjoy the great outdoors when the sun is shining. From a hike up Auckland Domain to a walk in the ranges that flank the city, there’s lots of amazing Auckland walks, bush walks and parks to explore. Check out these suggestions from Auckland local Kylie for wonderful walks (some a little off the beaten track…)

Discover A NZ Story: Home Front Exhibition at Auckland Museum
Focusing on life ‘at home’ during the First World War, the Home Front exhibition is currently on at Auckland Museum and is a look back into history to show how events half a world away shaped lives at home. This is the third in a series of WWI Centenary commemorative exhibitions. A wonderful afternoon spent delving into New Zealand’s war history. The museum is open daily from 10am - 5pm and entry is free for all New Zealand residents.
